What Base Material to choose  for your PCB demand?

 

A Printed Circuit Board (PCB) is made of different heat resistant insulating materials, upon which a conductive pattern may be formed. It may be rigid or flexible or both. It may be a dielectric or insulated metal sheet. Conductive copper tracks are printed or etched onto this non-conductive base substrate.

All materials used in a printed circuit can be classified according to their properties. The base material of a PCB (CCL – Copper Clad Laminate) is basically a composite material made of dielectric layer (Resin,Glass Fiber) and conductor or high purity (copper foil).

There are several considerations to decide on when choosing the right material for your exact PCB demand. 

 

Polyimide

Polyimide is a flexible material and is used for flex and rigid/flex boards, it is also preferable if extreme temperatures and thermal cycling are issues.
