The Dr. Schneider Unternehmensgruppe is a global automotive supplier headquartered in Kronach-Neuses, Germany, specializing in premium plastic systems for vehicle interiors. The family-owned company expanded its R&D expertise and production line to include electronic components in its products. This forced a need for additional suppliers within the electronics industry, a jungle of options.

SMT production for the Automotive Industry
Dr. Schneider stopped in 2019 the outsourcing of SMT production to third parties and expanded the full-service supplier strategy for the Automotive Industry.
This meant adding more sub-suppliers to their production chain, consequently a new supplier base in the electronic industry.
“This was an interesting periode for the company and for me personally. I have over the last 15 years heldt various positions at Dr.Schneider purchasing, now we moved into new territory sourcing for suppliers in a different segment”, says Dietzel.
“Elmatica saw a potential partnership with us, invested time, resources and knowledge over several years. I guess this shows their commitment towards customers”, says Dietzel.
Early involvement is crucial
For Dr. Schneider, a specialist for first-class products for vehicle interiors and a strategic business partner for their customers, transparency and predictability from their suppliers is crucial.
“For us it’s important to have a close relationship with our customers, to fulfill their demands, the same goes for our suppliers. Our customers involve us early in the product development process, we want to do the same with our suppliers.
Early involvement helps us to make the right decisions for saving time and money in our product development and procurement process”, says Dietzel.
Price and quality is very important in the Automotive industry, but according to Mr. Dietzel a close relationship, open discussions and honest feedback is equally important.
