PCB Errors and Via Holes – lessons at seminar
Interested in PCB errors and how to avoid them?
This week we attended a breakfast meeting arranged by Team PCB. A group in the Printed Circut Board Industry linked to Electronic Coast – an organization connected to the electronics industry in Horten. Our own Senior Technical Advisor Jan Pedersen held an interesting lecture about PCB Errors and how we solved them.
DFM Challenges was the topic of the conference, errors, and challenges often seen in the design and production of PCB, and most importantly, how to solve them. Often the right design and correct specifications can prevent lots of the errors often seen on PCB.
Creativity and thinking outside the box
Jan presented, three particular cases where customers have brought us boards they have been told were not possible to produce. With knowledge, experience and some creativity, we managed to turn these boards from not possible to produce, to successfully running in volume production.
Sometimes it good to think outside the box, a skill that comes with experience. One of the cases was concerning Semi-Flex, a customer wanted to know if we could produce it. We did – but the way towards the solution was not easy or without obstacles.
Torgrim Nordhus from Norautron held an interesting lecture about Via Holes. Wonder what a Via Hole is:
A Via Hole is a plated hole, used as an interlayer connection but is not intended for inserting a component lead or metallic part (Nordhus).
Team PCB meet up regularly at Horten, each time with interesting topics presented by knowledgeable parties in the PCB industry. Are you located in the Horten-area? Consider joining next time.
The number one defect on printed circuit boards
Did you also know that Hytec has named Plating Integrity as the number one defect on the top five defect list of PCB?
