Elmatica in Hall of Fame Rising Star
Senior Technical Advisor at Elmatica, Jan Pedersen got an award for his work on the Automotive Addendum to IPC-6012D. He was also awarded with a Hall of Fame Rising Star Award during this years APEX in US.
Jan Pedersen is chairman of D-33AA – Automotive Addendum to IPC-6012 and D-33AM Medical Addendum to IPC-6012 and IPC-6013. He is also member of task groups for Critical Components Traceability, Cold Joining/Press fit Task Group, Bare Board Cleanliness task Group, Intellectual Property Subcommittee and Technical Training Committee.
Spending some days at APEX, provided Mr. Pedersen with new insights.
– I experienced that the trend in the PCB industry, is to head towards more dedicated standards. We have brought Automotive focus into IPC, and as I see it they use the 6012DA as a stepstone into the automotive world.
I think the medical initiative will be the same. Besides that, IPC has finally taken the steps to include printed electronics, wearables and IOT. This is the future, and the whole industry is changing to attract and embrace these new technologies and product segments, says Pedersen.
– 3D printed PCBs and included components are already at the doorstep. Standards must come faster to meet new trends and development. IPC has introduced a max 3 years deadline for developing a standard – next step will probably be less, and going towards limited editions – addendums like those I develop, he says.
