TUESDAY AUSA MEETINGS, RECEPTION AT THE ROYAL DANSIH EMBASSY AND RECEPTION AT THE HOUSE OF SWEDEN IN WASHINGTON

Day three at AUSA started as normal with a long walk along all the impressive exhibition stands with a cup of coffee. Dreading the pain one will feel in the evening after standing and walking the entire day, however the quality of some flooring as at the LEONARDO DRS stand was impeccable and it was practically like standing in sand, thank you LEONARDO DRS.

Besides drones, battle stations, helicopters, missile systems and unmanned vehicle, one critical aspect addressed by practically all the major defence contracts and armed forces was radar systems. Investment in radar systems is a key attribute and priority for NATO countries and it is required in relation to missile systems and detecting drones.

Detecting drones or what one might name a minor tactical insurgence, is disruptive as it quickly and efficiently can affect the defence and offensive capability of any armed forces. One might compare it with the tactical defense capability snipers had on the eastern front during WWII. We consequently saw several radar systems and apparatus with impressive technical capabilities.

The reception at the Royal Danish Embassy was both enjoyable and relaxing in a quaint and pittoresk neighbourhood just north of Georgetown in Washington, especially after a long day at AUSA. It was a pleasure to meet fellow American, Norwegian and Danish colleagues in our business to discuss the latest trends.

The reception at the House of Sweden was beautifully situated on the riverside of the Potomac, just south of Georgetown in Washington. The reception was practically packed with colleagues from around the world and the Swedish Ambassador Karin Olofsdotter held an inspiring and interesting speech about cooperation with NATO, securing Europe and cooperating to ensure our common security. The Swedish Army major general and the former Force Commander of the Nordic Battlegroup (NBG) Karl Engelbrektson continued with emphasising how Sweden is centrally and strategically located in the nordic region. Emphasizing that the friendship and long cooperation between the United States and Sweden as an attractive industrial partner and close friend will be critical for the future
