Last week we had the 5th day of Chinese New Year in 2018. This day is in Feng Shui seen as an auspicious day to ‘open work’. I guess this is why this day in particular always makes me look back on the year that has passed and reflect a little over what has happened.
It’s was for sure an eventful 2017. From the world political situation to bitcoins and electric cars. For us, 2017 was a good year, but what have we done? Are we always at the right place at the right time? Or was it excellent strategic planning? I would say it’s a bit of both.
Of course, there are always some bumps along the way, but we face them as opportunities, overcome them and learn from our experiences.
Building and expanding a strong base
As you already know, 2018 is the year of the dog. From a Feng Shui perspective, this year, it’s an earthy dog. The earthy dog is said to be down to earth, meaning it’s going to be a stable year. Combined with the usual qualities of a dog: being loyal and trustworthy, this year is about building and expanding a strong base.
Think CircuitData – the language for PCB manufacturing data, our focus on compliance and the importance of knowing who and from where you are buying PCB, our contribution and development of IPC-standards, and COMMODITY.LIVE.
We are now strengthening our base and preparing ourselves to grow even further.
We have a goal and a strong captain to lead us. Not just strong in visions of further developing the business, I mean literally strong. A leader who is willing to carry you down the mountain, tells a lot about a man in my opinion.
The ‘New Superheroes’
At Elmatica we are all part of a good team, made up of all different and special characters. I will not say we have super-powers, but all the different personalities and qualities seem a bit as if we are the ‘New Avengers’, or the ‘New Superheroes’. Talk to Terho the “Hulk” in Finland, Janne “Mr. Incredible” in Sweden, or Andreas “Thor” Lydersen.
We are always ready for any challenges that might come.
We know the future where digitalization, AI, and automation will come sooner than most people think. But building a strong and stable base now, enable us to take on new opportunities and see the changes as possibilities, not challenges.
‘Always put on your best underwear, you won’t know when you will get lucky’
I remember one of my teachers once told me ‘Always put on your best underwear, you won’t know when you will get lucky’. I guess you can compare this to business as well. We cannot know for sure what the future will bring, what obstacles we must cross, or what the technologies will provide us with. But we can prepare and brace ourselves for whatever might come, both for our own sake, and to ensure that our customer’s purchasing process runs as smooth as possible.
You can always count on us, because “Nobody completes your purchasing better than us”.
I wish everyone a wonderful 2018!
